Monroe Street Market is located adjacent to the Brookland Metro Station and Catholic University. This mixed-use space features street-level retail, restaurants and a community center that hosts public gatherings and special events. The Market area is also recognized for its “Arts Walk,” a pedestrian walkway that showcases open artist studios and local musicians. It is also home to a popular weekly farmer’s market that showcases delicious food, arts and crafts and local vendors.
The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is the largest Roman Catholic Church in North America and the 10th largest in the world. It is widely regarded for its sacred art, unique architecture and many chapels.
Union Market is Union Market is located just south of New York Avenue and near Gallaudet University. It is a 12,200 square foot indoor market that features more than 40 vendors offering a variety of artisan products. The Market is especially suited for “foodies!”
The U.S. National Arboretum is located in northeast DC just south of New York Avenue. It includes 446 acres of forests, meadows, and gardens accessible with more than nine miles of paths. Among other things, it is known for its dazzling bonsai trees, koi ponds and collection of sandstone columns removed from the Capitol building during a 1958 renovation.

Most of its museums and galleries are located in and around DC's metro area with two based in New York City. Two of the most popular are the National Museum of American History which offers visitors the opportunity to see more than three million artifacts from American history and the National Air and Space Museum which is home to the largest collection of historic air and spacecraft in the world.
